From Strangers on a Ship to Duck-Hiding Fanatics.

A love story that started at sea — and never really came back to shore.

Our Story

It Started With a Four-Day Cruise

It all started with a Carnival Radiance sailing to Ensenada and Catalina Island in May 2024. Justin and Kate met on board, had an absolutely great time, and then — the day after the ship docked — went on their first "official" date. Kate's position is that the cruise was really just a four-day-long first date with better food and an ocean view. She's not wrong.

One cruise turned into five pretty quickly. Freedom of the Seas, Carnival Firenze, back to the Radiance (she earned a special place in our hearts), and more on the way. Somewhere between all those sailings we also got married, which felt fitting — our whole relationship basically lives on the water.

We've always loved finding rubber ducks hidden around ships — there's something genuinely delightful about stumbling on one tucked under a deck chair. So we thought: what if we were the ones hiding them? And what if we built something to track where they go? That's CruisinPeeps. Our first ducks hit the ocean on Princess's Royal Princess in March 2026. We have absolutely no idea where they'll end up — and that's kind of the whole point.

Kate

High School Teacher · The Enthusiast

Kate is a high school teacher who brings the same energy to cruising that she brings to everything else — which is a lot of energy. She's a gifted artist, a speed reader (she will finish that book before the ship reaches the next port), and a trail runner who finished her first race last year. She was also, without question, the most excited person on the ship the day they hid their first ducks.

Justin

Software Developer · The Builder

Justin is a software developer, which is how a fun idea about hiding rubber ducks became a full-blown duck tracking website. When he's not building things on a screen, he's skiing, camping, or deep in a board game. He's also the reason CruisinPeeps exists — though Kate would say she's the reason it's any fun.
